Mr. Michael Bell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Slippery Rock University and is currently completing his Masters of Divinity at Shepherd’s Theological Seminary.  Mr. Bell’s knowledge of the Bible and study of philosophy enhance the classes he teaches at our upper school.

Mrs. Crystal Braxton holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  She creates a loving, nurturing environment in her kindergarten classroom.

Upper School Art Teacher Southside Christian School

Ginny Brown serves as the Upper School Art Teacher as SCS.  Mrs. Brown has a BA in Art and Psychology from Wake Forest University.  She gives credit to her high school art teacher for inspiring her to pursue a career in art.  Mrs. Brown worked as an artist for licensing firms, magazines, and has taught art to students in the home school community since 1990.  She and her husband have three grown daughters and live in Clayton.

Mrs. Emily Cain has studied Business Administration at NC Wesleyan College and Medical Office Administration at Nash Community College where she earned multiple certifications in Medical Finance Administration.   In addition to her cheerful and professional disposition, Mrs. Cain brings over 12 years of experience in  Executive Administrative Assistance to the Upper School.

Mrs. Sharon Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in English from Bob Jones University.  Mrs. Daniel is trained as a biblical counselor through the National Association of Nouthetic Counseling.  Mrs. Daniel teaches middle and high school English, literature, and Bible.

Mrs. Jenene Davis holds a Bachelor of Science in Religious Education from Faith Theological Seminary and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University.  Mrs. Davis’ love for children of all ages and dedication to mentoring her staff is rooted in her unyielding love for her Savior, which is evident in her servant’s heart.  Mrs. Davis serves as the Elementary Principal.

Mrs. Katherine Doyle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management from Lincoln Christian University.  She has experience in computer software training and human resources.  Mrs. Doyle serves as the administrative secretary and elementary admissions coordinator for Southside Christian School.

Mrs. Cherri Durig graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in General Studies. She made the transition into education and has experience in Christian school education. Mrs. Durig teaches 4th grade English, reading, and Bible.

Mrs. Pati Edwards received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from East Coast Bible College/Lee University and her teaching certification from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.  Mrs. Edwards teaches fifth grade English and Bible.

First Grade Teacher Southside Christian School

Mrs. Jennifer Fiebelkorn is completing her Bachelor of Science in Social Work at Liberty University.  After teaching in the K4 class for 9 years, Mrs. Fiebelkorn transitioned to before care and support staff.  She will be teaching first grade for the remainder of the school year and is looking forward to being back in the classroom.

Mr. Dillon Frazier holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a minor in Molecular Biology from Wayland Baptist University.  Dillon is currently completing his Masters of Divinity at Shepherds Theological Seminary.   Mr. Frazier teaches upper school mathematics at SCS.

Miss Becky Ham received her Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education from Liberty University. Middle school students enjoy connecting with her through English and Literature classes as well as in their free time.

Miss Tammy Holdren serves as the K4 teacher at SCS.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Liberty University and served almost a decade teaching in Peru.

High School Principal Southside Christian School

Mr. Mark Holley serves as the Upper School Principal.  Mark holds his Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise and Sports Science.  He has also completed his Masters Degree in School Administration.  Both his BS and MS degree have been awarded through East Carolina University.  Mark served in Wilson County and Wake County Schools before joining SCS this school year.

Mrs. Jenni Hurley holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Nyack College and a Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Technical University. Mrs. Hurley teaches middle school English and history and serves as the high school guidance counselor.

Athletic Director Southside Christian School

Mr. Johnson serves as the SCS Athletic Director.  Mike is a a devoted Christian, husband to Nina, and father of five children.  In addition to serving as the Southside’s A.D. Mike also teaches freshman Bible.    Mr. Johnson has served as a coach and PE teacher for the past five years.  His love for the Lord, athletics, and youth is evident in his leadership at SCS.

Mrs. Linda Kern holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colorado State University in Spanish, grades K-12. She has traveled extensively to Spanish-speaking countries including Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Peru. She has a passion for Spanish culture, language and global missions. She teaches middle and high school Spanish.

Mrs. Karen Khamis holds a Bachelor of Arts in English/Writing Arts and a Master of Education from the State University of New York at Oswego.  Mrs. Khamis has more than a decade of experience in Christian education and teaches 3rd grade at SCS.

Mrs. Susan Laughlin holds a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Social Science in Education as well as a Masters of Education in Instructional Technology for Media Education.   Both of her degrees are from the University of Central Florida.   Mrs. Laughlin teaches Latin at our elementary school.

Miss Tasa McGowan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Southeastern Free Will Baptist College and is currently completing her Masters in Education at Columbia International University.  Miss McGowan’s experience teaching in China for several years enriches her upper school classes.

Mrs. Jennifer McLean holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Office Administration from Bob Jones University.    Mrs. McLean enjoys teaching the 6th grade girls Bible class, subbing in our upper school, helping with our learning support program, and helping out wherever needed on the upper school campus.

Mrs. Andrea Milner earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Bob Jones University.  Her unique experiences teaching in schools in Guam and Micronesia add a richness to the 4th grade class she teaches.

Mr. Paul Milner holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Bob Jones University. Mr. Milner’s experiences as a High School Principal and teacher in Micronesia and Guam provide richness to his upper school classes.   In addition to serving on the SCS staff, Mr. Milner also serves as the Pastor of North Smithfield Baptist Church in Smithfield, NC.

Mrs. Kim O’Neil holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Appalachian State University.  She started her career as a financial accountant for a large bank in Winston-Salem, NC and serves as the Southside Christian School Business Manager.

Head of School Southside Christian School

Dr. Patton is the SCS Head of School. He is married to Mary Ellen and they have four children and six grandchildren.  Dr. Patton has served in Christian schools in PA, FL, TN, and NC for the past 26 years.  He is a graduate of Liberty University for his undergraduate degree, from Temple University for his M.B.A., and from Liberty University for his doctoral degree.  His life verse if Romans 12:1,2 and he is grateful for the opportunity to lead SCS into a new chapter in the life of the school.  A chapter that recently saw the school become an independent Christian school and land purchased to build a new consolidated campus.

MS Computer Teacher, School Nurse, International Student Coordinator, and Upper School Admissions Southside Christian School

Mary Ellen Patton has served in Christian schools with her husband, Dr. Patton the past 26 years. Mary Ellen loves seeing students become engaged and exciting about learning in the area of technology.  She has a nursing degree from Clarion University.  Mary Ellen also finds professional and faith fulfillment in serving the needs of International Students.  Mary Ellen and her husband were first called to serve the Lord in Haiti and through that calling, the Lord redirected their lives into Christian education. The Patton’s have four grown children and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Mandy Pratt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Practical Christian Training with a minor in Childcare from Bob Jones University.  Mrs. Pratt also holds a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Southeastern University. After serving in an administration role with Dr. Patton, Mrs. Pratt joins us this year teaching middle school English, literature, and Bible.

Mrs. Beth Purdum serves as the Upper School Substitute Teacher and on those days when a substitute is not needed, Beth provides office support in the US Program.

Mrs. Angie Register has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from East Carolina University.  She has an Associate degree in Nursing from Pitt Community College. She is a nationally Certified Emergency Nurse.  Mrs. Register is currently enrolled at Chamberlain University for her Master’s degree in Nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.  She loves children and is currently teaching physical education for the elementary school.

Ms. Amanda Rose is currently completing coursework through Mount Olive College to secure her Bachelor of Science in Early Education. Students enjoy the creative approach Ms. Rose uses when teaching every subject matter. Her 2nd grade class is a fun place to learn.

Mrs. Cherie Settle holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Human Resources from the University of Phoenix and made a lateral entry into the field of education.  She gained her teaching certification through ACSI.  As a life-long learner, Mrs. Settle continues to take classes through East Carolina University.  Mrs. Settle’s fifth grade students will enjoy her enthusiasm and love for learning.

Ms. Tracy Shouse holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Special Education from East Carolina University.  She has also begun her master’s degree at Old Dominion.  Ms. Shouse’s experience working with children in Christian education makes her 2nd grade classroom and fun learning environment.

Upper School History Teacher Southside Christian School

Mr. Rickie Wagstaff holds a Masters Degree in Education from Campbell University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.   Mr. Wagstaff retired in 2017 after over 25 years of service in the public school system in Wake County.   He comes to Southside to share his love of history and a chance to share his Biblical beliefs with the students he teaches in both middle and upper school history courses.
