Mr. Michael Bell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Slippery Rock University and is currently completing his Masters of Divinity at Shepherd’s Theological Seminary.  Mr. Bell’s knowledge of the Bible and study of philosophy enhance the classes he teaches at our upper school.

Mrs. Shelah Bowers holds a Bachelor of Arts in Missions and Elementary Education from Pensacola Christian College.  Mrs. Bowers’ teaching experiences and service in Brazil bring excitement to her elementary Spanish and Music classes.

Mrs. Crystal Braxton holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  She creates a loving, nurturing environment in her kindergarten classroom.

Business Manager Southside Christian School

Mr. Bridgers has a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Northland International University and is currently finishing his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Liberty University.   He has taught elementary grades at Schaumburg Christian School for 6 years and served for several years as Director of the Day Camp.    During his time serving as a Director, God placed on his heart to transition to the business side of Christian Education.   Mr. Bridgers is thankful that God has called his family to SCS.

Upper School Art Teacher Southside Christian School

Ginny Brown serves as the Upper School Art Teacher as SCS.  Mrs. Brown has a BA in Art and Psychology from Wake Forest University.  She gives credit to her high school art teacher for inspiring her to pursue a career in art.  Mrs. Brown worked as an artist for licensing firms, magazines, and has taught art to students in the home school community since 1990.  She and her husband have three grown daughters and live in Clayton.

Mrs. Emily Cain has studied Business Administration at NC Wesleyan College and Medical Office Administration at Nash Community College where she earned multiple certifications in Medical Finance Administration.   In addition to her cheerful and professional disposition, Mrs. Cain brings over 12 years of experience in  Executive Administrative Assistance to the Upper School.

Elementary School Principal Southside Christian School

Mrs. Jenene Davis holds a Bachelor of Science in Religious Education from Faith Theological Seminary and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University.  Mrs. Davis’ love for children of all ages and dedication to mentoring her staff is rooted in her unyielding love for her Savior, which is evident in her servant’s heart.  Mrs. Davis serves as the Elementary Principal.

Mr. Chris Dentel has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in History from Toccoa Falls College, a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning from Liberty University, and a M.B.A. from the University of Mississippi. He has been working in education since the 2004-05 school year and has filled different roles in schools in North Carolina and Qingdao, China.

Mrs. Dentel has a Bachelor of Science in Middle School Math and Science from Toccoa Falls College and has seven years of teaching experience.    Mrs. Dentel has a passion for soccer and organization.   She has spent thirteen years coaching soccer both at Clayton Middle School and the International School of Qingdao in China.

Mrs. Mari Dew has her college degree in Early Childhood Development from Piedmont International University.   Mrs. Dew is half Hispanic and teaches Upper School Spanish.   Her passion is teaching and she appreciates the opportunity at Southside Christian School to work with the students, parents and staff.

Mrs. Pati Edwards received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from East Coast Bible College/Lee University and her teaching certification from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.  Mrs. Edwards teaches Middle School English and Bible as well as our Upper School Music Instruction.

Heather has a Bachelors degree in Child Development from Meredith College and Masters degree in Early Childhood Studies from Walden University.    She loves to create a fun and nurturing environment for her  students so they can learn and grow to the best of their abilities.   Heather looks forward to meeting the families of SCS and serving with the SCS Team.

Mr. Gatewood has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in History from Campbell University.   He has spent the last eleven years teaching individuals with disabilities in the Wake Tech Community College system.   Mr. Gatewood enjoys being part of an environment (Christian school) that places God’s teaching at the forefront of educating our children.   God has opened a new ministry for Mr. Gatewood this year and he is looking forward to serving as a teacher and as a coach with boys soccer and baseball.

I attended Greenville Christian Academy for 13 years where the Lord greatly shaped my life.  After graduating, I attended Southeastern FWB Bible College where I received my under grad with a major in Pastoral Theology.   Some of the most pivotal influences in my life came when I was in my teenage years at my Christian school.  My prayer is that the Lord allows me to be this person for a student at Southside while working with them in athletics.   The Lord has blessed me with a beautiful wife Emily, our son and my little buddy Cooper, and  sweet little baby girl Skyler.   I pray God uses me to be an influence in the future years at SCS.

Upper School Language Arts Teacher Southside Christian School

Mr. Helm holds a B.A. degree in Theater and Vocal Performance and a B.S. degree in Philosophy from Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA.   He is a certified educator through the state of MA for communication and literacy grades K-12 and is excited to now be a North Carolinian!   His passion for teaching began in 2005 when he became an ESL tutor to the village of Bassan Caiman in Northern Province of Haiti. Joseph feels extremely blessed that the Lord has brought him to the Southside Christian community!   The love of Christ should be free to everyone and Joseph wants to help spread that love and acceptance.   He loves to sing, laugh, and have enlightened conversations with his students on various topics.

Miss Tammy Holdren serves as the K4 teacher at SCS.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Liberty University and served almost a decade teaching in Peru.

Mrs. Camden Keene is a graduate of Pensacola Christian College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.    Camden’s heartbeat has always been for children- to see them learn academically, but more importantly, to help them grow spiritually.   Mrs. Keene counts it a privilege to be apart of the SCS ministry and looks forward to the influence for the Lord that she will have in the lives of the SCS Elementary students.

Mrs. Karen Khamis holds a Bachelor of Arts in English/Writing Arts and a Master of Education from the State University of New York at Oswego.  Mrs. Khamis has more than a decade of experience in Christian education and teaches 3rd grade at SCS.

Upper School Social Studies Teacher Southside Christian School

Mrs. Krauss received both her BA in Foreign Language and her MSEd from the State University of New York in Oswego.   She has been in Christian education since 1994, and she has been teaching at Southside Christian School since 2011.   Mrs. Krauss also coaches the SCS swim team, and her husband has coached both boys and girls basketball.  Her son, Daniel, graduated from SCS in 2018 and currently attends Liberty University.   Her daughter works for Liberty University’s Online Academy.

Mrs. Rebecca Lambert has a Bachelor of Art in Mathematics with an emphasis in Secondary Education from Cedarville University.    She brings over 30 years of experience in teaching Math and Science from a Biblical perspective.   She looks forward to fostering a love of learning in her students at Southside Christian School.

Mrs. Jennifer McLean holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Office Administration from Bob Jones University.    Mrs. McLean enjoys teaching the 6th grade girls Bible class, subbing in our upper school, helping with our learning support program, and helping out wherever needed on the upper school campus.

Mrs. Jordan Pardo holds a Bachelor of Art in Religious Studies from North Carolina State University.  She has experience teaching grades K, 1st and 2nd as well as International experience in the Philippines.   Mrs. Pardo is looking forward to creating a family atmosphere at SCS with her elementary students.

Head of School Southside Christian School

Dr. Patton is the SCS Head of School. He is married to Mary Ellen and they have four children and six grandchildren.  Dr. Patton has served in Christian schools in PA, FL, TN, and NC for the past 28 years.  He is a graduate of Liberty University for his undergraduate degree, from Temple University for his M.B.A., and from Liberty University for his doctoral degree.  His life verse if Romans 12:1,2 and he is grateful for the opportunity to lead SCS into a new chapter in the life of the school.  A chapter that recently saw the school become an independent Christian school and land purchased to build a new consolidated campus.

MS Computer Teacher, School Nurse, International Student Coordinator, and Upper School Admissions Southside Christian School

Mary Ellen Patton has served in Christian schools with her husband, Dr. Patton the past 28 years. Mary Ellen loves seeing students become engaged and exciting about learning in the area of technology.  She has a nursing degree from Clarion University.  Mary Ellen also finds professional and faith fulfillment in serving the needs of International Students.  Mary Ellen and her husband were first called to serve the Lord in Haiti and through that calling, the Lord redirected their lives into Christian education. The Patton’s have four grown children and six grandchildren.

Substitute Coordinator Southside Christian School

Mrs. Pettet serves as the Substitute Coordinator for the Elementary and the Upper School programs and also substitute teaches as needed.    She loves interacting with children and students of all different ages at Southside!  Mrs. Pettet especially loves the freedom to speak about and share the love of God in her service at SCS.

Mrs. Mandy Pratt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Practical Christian Training with a minor in Childcare from Bob Jones University.  Mrs. Pratt also holds a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Southeastern University. After serving in an administration role with Dr. Patton, Mrs. Pratt joined SCS this past year to teach middle school English, literature, and Bible.

Mrs. Beth Purdum serves as the Upper School Substitute Teacher and on those days when a substitute is not needed, Beth provides office support in the US Program.

Mrs. Angie Register has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from East Carolina University.  She has an Associate degree in Nursing from Pitt Community College. She is a nationally Certified Emergency Nurse.  Mrs. Register is currently enrolled at Chamberlain University for her Master’s degree in Nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.  She loves children and is currently teaching physical education for the elementary school.

Mr. Riegel began his undergraduate studies in Astrophysics in Pennsylvania before receiving God’s call to ministry by transferring to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies with a minor in Biblical Studies and he plans to complete his Master of Arts in Biblical Languages from SEBTS in December 2019.   He loves both learning and teaching and is excited to join the Southside Warriors family.

Mrs. Cherie Settle holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Human Resources from the University of Phoenix and made a lateral entry into the field of education.  She gained her teaching certification through ACSI.  As a life-long learner, Mrs. Settle continues to take classes through East Carolina University.  Mrs. Settle moved from the ES Classroom the summer of 2019 to join the SCS Leadership Team and now serves as our Human Resource Coordinator and other areas of support within the SCS Business Office.

Ms. Tracy Shouse holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Special Education from East Carolina University.  She has also begun her master’s degree at Old Dominion.  Ms. Shouse’s experience working with children in Christian education makes her 2nd grade classroom and fun learning environment.

Mr. Totten holds a Bachelor Degree from Liberty University with a major in youth ministry and a minor in music. He served as a youth pastor for 23 years in several churches in Wisconsin and Ohio.  Mr. Totten is a proud veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force.   He loves teaching students and has a passion to see young people succeed both academically and spiritually.

Mrs. Wolfe holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Fairmont State University and has worked in retirement services, executive administration, and process auditing.    She has homeschooled her children and taught in various home school co-ops for fifteen years.   She and her family love music and lead worship at their church every week.
